The freedom from tobacco and nicotine guide for schools was developed as an adaptation of the How to Make Your Campus Smoke-Free guide, which was published in 2020 to support UN Agencies in the establishment of smoke-free campuses. The No Tobacco Unit at WHO headquarters reviewed country-level policies on nicotine and tobacco-free school policies, as well as resources published by public health and tobacco control NGOs.
