PHE Canada Student Chapters exist to equip pre-service educators with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to create positive and inclusive environments that empower all children and youth to live active and well—for life.

Our Student Chapters are guided by four key pillars—Organize, Mobilize, Elevate, and Connect—that help shape the next generation of PHE leaders.

Organize

Plan, promote, and host meaningful peer-to-peer activities and events. These experiences provide pre-service educators with invaluable learning opportunities and help bridge the gap between PHE specialists and generalists.

Mobilize

Work alongside PHE leaders, champions, and experts to develop and share teaching tools, resources, and professional development opportunities that enhance knowledge and expand perspectives on quality PHE practices.

Elevate

Build platforms for pre-service educators to develop leadership skills, strengthen professional portfolios, and grow their advocacy mindset as the next generation of PHE leaders and champions.

Connect

Create a sense of community and belonging by bringing students together around common interests and connecting them with provincial/territorial PHE teacher associations, mentors, and champions across Canada.

At UVic, our PHE Student Chapter’s goal is to create a supportive and inspiring community for future physical and health educators. Joining our chapter encourages students to grow as leaders, shape their teacher identities, and gain confidence to thrive in a career of education after graduating. A unique characteristic of our chapter is its location and connection to nature on Vancouver Island. We view the outdoors as an extension of our classroom and try to incorporate it into our Chapter whenever possible, whether that be group walks to the beach or sunset swims. We welcome all students passionate about physical and health education to join our chapter and grow a community of lifelong learners and educators.
