CFL Special Edition - Football in Focus Resource Now Available!

CFL Resource launch

In conjunction with CFL’s Grey Cup Unite celebration this week, PHE Canada and the CFL are excited to launch Move Think Learn - Football in Focus Featuring CFL Skill Practice (Grades 7-9). Developed in collaboration with Football Canada, this resource provides tactical games, skill practice activities, and instructional strategies to assist educators, coaches, and leaders with including football in their programming.

COVID-19: Resource Modifications and Supports

With new health and safety protocols in place and remote/at-home learning for many students and teachers, the Move Think Learn - Football in Focus Featuring CFL Skill Practice (Grades 7-9) has developed a resource supplement providing general transmission prevention measures and specific modifications for the activities. The resource is also accompanied with 13 Football Skill Videos that can be used to support both in class and online, asynchronous instruction. View the full playlist of Skill Videos!

The resource supports the development of skill execution in complement to the tactical and game play strategies provided through the Teaching Games for Understanding model. Take a look inside the resource and you will find:

  • Move tactical game play activities
  • Think questions for each activity
  • 2 culminating Learn activities
  • 13 Football Skill Videos
  • 5 Skill Practice activities
  • Links to activities in the CFL Futures Player Development Program
  • And more!

“Introducing youth in our country to the game of football through the school system is a priority for the CFL,” said Randy Ambrosie, Commissioner of the CFL. “We want to share with youth the valuable life lessons taught by football, including the values of teamwork, hard work and perseverance.”
