As an emerging leader in the field of physical and health education, it is important that you have access to resources such as national and regional mentors to help you deepen your knowledge, gain pedagogical insight from shared experiences, and increase your confidence when you enter the field of PHE after graduation. That is why we have launched the Student Mentorship Program.
“The mentorship process has been incredibly valuable and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to expand and get insights into the PHE world. My mentor’s support, expertise, and willingness to connect as many times as possible to share their experiences and research have been extremely beneficial. Throughout our time I’ve gained a lot of practical advice that I can apply directly to my studies and career planning. I’m very grateful for this opportunity, and I’m excited to continue learning from my amazing mentor.”
- Isabel Tesolin, Brock University
The National Mentorship Program is continuing to focus on building long-lasting relationships between PHE champions and those on their PHE professional journey, by reaching all mentors and mentees and those with intersecting identity factors and in equity-deserving groups, respectively: girls and women; persons with all abilities; Indigenous, Black, and racialized people; 2SLGBTQI+ populations; and newcomers to Canada.
How do you apply?
It’s easy! We’ve intentionally designed a mentee application form that will connect you with a Mentor based on your goals, interests, lived-experiences, personalities, and more. Upon submitting your Mentee application, we will support in cultivating a mentoring partnership that will assist you in your journey and growth as a PHE professional in the areas of educational leadership, research, K-12 education, and/or teacher education.
