PHE Spotlight Series

Q: What language will be used in the Spotlight Series?

We are looking for English, French, or bilingual presentations.

Q: What are the themes of the presentation?

The following themes will be highlighted: Assessment, Health Education, Healthy School Communities, Inclusion, Physical Education/Physical Literacy, Outdoor Education, Dance.

Q: What time and date will these live webinars be hosted?

This depends on your interest and availability, but we are hoping to launch the Spotlight Series on Friday, May 1st, with subsequent sessions dispersed throughout the remainder of the month. To ensure all Canadian time zones can participate in each session, they will be scheduled between 11 am and 4 pm EST.

Q: What are the session formats?

We are looking for a combination of a 60-minute presentation and 15, 30-minute symposia sessions  - with presenters indicating their interests when they submit the form.

  • Presentations: Presentations will be delivered by one presenter (co-presenters are welcomed). Each live presentation will be 60 minutes in length. The presenter(s) will be required to create a slide deck and participate in a Q&A session.
  • Symposia: Symposia are moderated sessions of experts presenting on a common theme, designed to give the audience different perspectives. One symposia session will last approximately 60 minutes and will include a minimum of 2 presentations, 15 or 30 minutes each, and will conclude with a Q&A session.

Q: Will I be running the webinar by myself?

No, each session will have a “room” host (a board or staff member from PHE Canada). They will do the introductions, be there to troubleshoot, and moderate the Q&A session.

Q: Can you tell me more about the Q&A session?

In preparation for the Q&A session, we ask that each presenter considers the challenge of online learning, as this is of key relevance to educators working to keep the ‘E’ in PHE right now.

Q: Who will be the audience for the PHE Spotlight Series

The presentations would be free and open to all, the live session will be capped at 250.

Q: Will the Spotlight Series be recorded?

The sessions will be recorded, and suitable content will be shared as PD resources for PHE teachers.

Q: What is the selection process?

All invited presenters have already gone through a selection process, but our team will further review the form submissions and use our professional judgment as to the suitability for online delivery. In addition, please note that 15 and 30-minute sessions MAY be combined into a moderated symposia-style presentation.
