Pre-service Teachers: Mobilizing the Blueprint for Action Workshop
This workshop will offer strategies and resources to support you in preventing substance-related harms among youth using the Blueprint for Action. We all have a part to play in the prevention of substance-related harms and this course has been designed to specifically highlight the role of pre-service teachers from elementary to high school. While specific activities may shift depending on the age of your students, the Blueprint for Action can be used as a guide and be of value. The principles and approaches underpinning the Blueprint can be relevant for all students.
The aims of this workshop are to:
- Highlight the need to approach substance use among youth in a different way
- Introduce the approaches and interventions of the Blueprint for Action
- Encourage you to reflect on existing school policies, beliefs, and approaches to addressing substance use and its related harms among youth
- Outline the benefits of implementing the Blueprint for Action
- Identify specific actions for educators when implementing the Blueprint for Action
