2026 PHE National Conference

Calling all presenters! PHE Canada and PHE BC are now accepting presentation proposals for the 2026 PHE National Conference on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations in Vancouver, BC.

The National Conference will take place from April 30 – May 2, 2026 and will connect teachers, school administrators, academics, students, and leaders who are championing healthy, active kids. #PHEinVan2026 will feature practical and innovative presentations by professionals from across the country and abroad on topics such as Truth & Reconciliation in Education, Social Justice in Education, Centering Student Voice, Physically Active Learning in STEAM, Digital Innovation in Education, Quality Outdoor Learning Experiences, Assessment, Educational Leadership, Healthy Schools, Quality Health and Wellbeing Experiences, and Quality Physical Education Experiences.

Presentation Information
*Sessions are 60 minutes in length. The review committee is looking for session descriptions that are detailed, engaging, and include information about what attendees will learn or take away from attending your session. If your presentation is selected, this description will appear in the conference program. Therefore, it is expected that the intended session be presented as described here.
Language of presentation

Assessment principles and practices that support and enhance student learning (e.g., formative and summative assessment, assessment criteria, role of feedback, assessment tools).
Identity affirming pedagogical strategies that center the voices of students (especially students who have been historically marginalized), to promote joy and belonging, for a lifetime.
Topics and tools that support innovative and creative learning opportunities for students (e.g., AI, game-based learning, virtual reality).
Guidance, ideas, and wise practices for individuals who serve in mentoring roles, support academic teams or pre-service educators, or serve at the provincial/territorial or district level (e.g., government relations, leadership skills, advocacy).
Strategies and approaches that promote health and well-being in school communities in a planned, integrated, and wholistic way (e.g., school-wide activities, healthy school certification, recess, before and after school, intramurals, sedentary behaviour).
Instructional approaches and activities that integrate movement and physical activity into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), supporting student engagement, comprehension, and creativity (e.g., kinesthetic learning strategies, cross-curricular lesson design, active problem-solving tasks).
Topics and themes that support students in the development of relevant and appropriate knowledge, skills, and habits related to health and wellbeing (e.g., health and wellness education, food literacy, financial literacy).
Guidance, ideas, and wise practices for implementing relevant and appropriate outdoor learning experiences in a school community (e.g., outdoor education, Land-Based Learning, pedagogical strategies/tools).
Topics and themes that support students in the development of relevant and appropriate knowledge, skills, and habits related to physical activity and movement (e.g., physical education, physical literacy, pedagogical strategies/tools).
Frameworks and approaches that advocate for the fair distribution of power, privilege, and opportunities (e.g., anti-racism, 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion, gender equity, students with diverse abilities, teaching for diversity and intersectionality).
Guidance, ideas, and wise practices for building capacity and intercultural understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples (e.g., First Nations Games, Land-Based Learning, perspective on Health and Wellness, history and legacy of residential schools, Indigenous Education).

By submitting your form, you confirm the following:

  • I have read the Call for Presentations form. The information I am submitting accurately describes my status and responsibilities as a conference presenter.
  • I will register as a conference delegate and/or exhibitor if my presentation proposal is accepted. 
  • I will upload a copy of my presentation and other supporting documents to the event website/app or provide it to conference organizers to upload no later than two days after the end of the conference.
  • I understand that should any circumstances arise prior to the conference dates that prevent me from delivering my professional development session, I will immediately contact the conference organizers.
  • I understand that PHE Canada does not require delegates to pre-register for sessions and therefore cannot guarantee delegate attendance.
  • I understand that sales are not permitted during my professional development session.
  • I understand that any requests made above are not guaranteed unless explicitly stated in an offer to present. 
  • I will take all reasonable precautions/actions to ensure the inclusion, dignity, and safety of the delegates who attend my session.
  • I will use language and conduct that demonstrates respect for race, class, gender identity or expression, sexuality, culture, beliefs, and ability. 
  • I will abide by all venue/facility requirements and take all reasonable precautions/actions to deter any damage to the venue/facility. If any damage is done to the venue/facility as a direct result of my session, I will do my best to resolve the issue with the facility and the event organizers.
  • I consent to allow any photos or recordings taken during my session to be used by PHE Canada for promotional, educational, or archival purposes.
