The 2024 PHE Pre-Conference will provide an opportunity for event attendees to learn more about the rich cultural traditions of the Indigenous groups of the land.
2024 PHE Pre-Conference: Culture Camp

The 2024 PHE Pre-Conference will provide an opportunity for event attendees to learn more about the rich cultural traditions of the Indigenous groups of the land.
New in 2024 – Pre-Conference Cultural Camp! The Pre-Conference Cultural Camp event will introduce and immerse delegates in an Indigenous cultural learning experience where delegates will learn more about the cultural traditions of Indigenous groups of the land through a variety of hands-on learning opportunities, such as:
- Tipi Raising
- Medicinal Plants
- Beading
- Fish Scale Art and painting
- Jigging
- Hide Prep and Tanning
- Round Dance
- Fish Fry and Bannock
- Birch Bark Baskets
- Hunting and Trapping demonstration
- Hand Games
All the above workshops will run simultaneously throughout the day.Participants can join the workshops as they wish, and no prior registration is required.
The event will take place at the bowl at the University of Saskatchewan (an outdoor space near PAC), rain or shine. Be sure to dress for the weather.
Food will begin to be served around 12:00 and will continue to be served throughout the day. Food options will include items often served at a shore lunch, fried fish and bannock.
We will follow cultural customs during lunch. The meal will start with a blessing/ prayer. Food will then be served to the Elder and Knowledge Keepers with culture camp participants to follow.
The Culture Camp program is currently being finalized and is subject to change.
