PHE Canada Endorses the BOKS Program

PHE Canada is proud to announce the endorsement of the BOKS Elementary School Activity Plan, Middle School Activity Plan, and BOKS Bursts.

BOKS Canada provides free physical activity programs and resources that support the development of children physically, mentally, and socially by strengthening their minds and bodies through movement. Following a thorough review and evaluation from subject matter experts in the field, the following are being recognized for their support of physical activity programming and the promotion of healthy learning environments for students.

BOKS Elementary School Physical Activity Plans
A 12-week program targeted at students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. The resource features activity plans for various functional movement skills. Each activity plan includes a warm up, skill introduction, locomotor-related activity, and game(s) for the skill(s) introduced. This resource includes three physical activity plans per week and provides two,12-week sessions.

BOKS Middle School Physical Activity Plans
A 12-week program targeted for students in Grades 7-9. Functional fitness skills and concepts are introduced using games, relays, and obstacle courses. By combining traditional playground games, typical ball sports, and fast-paced relays, this resource provides a variety of moderate to vigorous physical activity options. This resource includes three physical activity plans per week and provides two, 12-week sessions.

BOKS Bursts
Short physical activities (1-10 minutes in length) created to help students stay active throughout the school day, energizing their brains for enhanced learning. All Bursts, whether individual, partner, or team-focused, can be performed with minimal space.
