Margery Holman

Dr. Margery Holman, Professor Emerita, University of Windsor has advocated for equity in sport and particularly gender equity, throughout her career. She has worked or volunteered in all levels of sport governance locally, provincially, nationally and internationally as a coach, administrator, teacher and researcher. While pursuing her PhD at Michigan State University, Dr. Holman completed her dissertation on sexual harassment and abuse in Canadian university sport. Contained within the data collected, a concern for hazing and the sexualized activities that put both females and males at risk of abuse launched her research work with Dr. johnson to better understand hazing. This 20 plus year journey continues with much work still needed to ensure a respectful environment where young people can safely enter a new sport setting to pursue their goals.
