Lacy Stevens-Farrell
I am a proud member of the Nipissing First Nation, and I belong to the crane clan. My journey with Nbisiing began in January 2012, where I initially served as a student success teacher and later as a vice principal. In September 2021, I was honoured to assume the principal role at Nbisiing. This title carries a significant responsibility to our community, students, and staff as we work together to enhance the educational experience and outcomes for Indigenous students. Committed to continuous personal and professional growth, I am currently pursuing my Master of Education. My research focus centers on decolonizing education and developing leadership strategies to empower teachers in this crucial endeavour. I firmly believe in the power of education as a force for positive change in our community and the lives of our students. One of my primary objectives is to foster genuine, trusting, and enduring relationships that infuse our school with a strong sense of community. Through these connections, we aim to support and preserve our cultural and language programs for the benefit of future generations, promoting mno-bimaadziwin or the "good life." Together, we can ensure that our heritage, culture and traditions continue to thrive in the heart of our educational institution.
