PHE Canada Launches the PHE Empowerment Grants

PHE Empowerment Grants

PHE Canada is proud to announce the inaugural launch of the PHE Empowerment Grants Program. Established as an annual funding program, the PHE Empowerment Grants will provide financial support to the PHE Community to advance physical and health education and healthy school programming for children and youth across Canada.

While each year will see approximately $14,000 - $20,000 distributed to deserving recipients, $25,000 is being made available for this inaugural year.

“Last month, PHE Canada announced the Access to Action Grant Program. The PHE Empowerment Grants Program is another step in further supporting the PHE Community with an ongoing funding program.” said PHE Canada Executive Director and CEO, Melanie Davis. “This annual grant aims to help encourage and advance the diversity, leadership, and excellence within the PHE sector, and provide further support to schools, teachers, researchers, and students across Canada.”

Funding Streams

The PHE Empowerment Grants have two streams for the 2022-2023 school year: 1) Healthy School Programming and 2) EDI Graduate Student Research Bursary.

Grant Timeline

The 2022-2023 PHE Empowerment Grant applications are now being accepted until January 15, 2023.

Funding Amount

Empowerment grant allotments typically range from $250 – $2,500 per grant recipient for the Healthy School Programming stream, and $1000 for the successful recipient for the EDI Graduate Student Research stream. However, special consideration will be given based on impact of applications.
