Anxiety strategy chart
This tool is for teachers to use with students experiencing anxiety. It is a worksheet that asks students to describe their anxiety symptoms and what they need from teachers to assist them in different situations (in class, homework/assignments, and tests).
In the first column, the student is asked to describe how they react physically and emotionally when they are feeling anxious.
The next three columns ask the student to describe what they need to help them succeed in the classroom and on assignments and tests. For example, “Please check with me at the beginning of each new task or step to ensure my understanding.”
The last column asks students to describe how their learning is affected by their anxiety; for example, “I can get overwhelmed with new information, with the pace of learning, and with the volume of assignments.”
