Outdoor Wellness

This promising practice highlights the Outdoor Wellness initiative created by Mt. Stewart Consolidated School in Mount Stewart, PEI. The initiative was created to provide students with more opportunities to improve the quality of their outdoor experiences at school. To support program implementation, a variety of structures for physical activity participation outdoors will be built. The structures that are being built for this project include an outdoor classroom, a ga-ga ball pit, a rope/obstacle course, and a geocaching course. Through risk and play, teachers hope to see students interacting outside of their comfort zones and growing with their peers while incorporating movement into daily learning.
