Research Forum is guided by the PHE Canada Research Council and provides a convening opportunity for academics, graduate students, and practitioners with a common interest in physical and health education.

This year’s forum will take place exclusively on-line. The Forum is scheduled to take place over two days: Wednesday April 28, 2021 and Thursday, April 29th, 2021 with live online sessions. The deadline for proposal submissions is January 22, 2021. No late submissions will be accepted.

Proposals are being accepted for one of 4 formats:

1.     Graduate Student Pitch & Ditch: Work from graduate students at any point in their program is invited.  With this presentation, graduate students have the opportunity to present (pitch) 3-5 slides and will have 5 minutes to discuss their research. An opportunity for questions and comments will occur afterwards, where students can choose to accept or ditch feedback provided. This format is intended to take the place of the traditional poster presentations.

2.      Oral Presentation: For research that has been completed but not yet published, presenters will have 12-15 minutes to present their research followed by 2-3 minutes of questions (presentation time will depend on number of submissions received).

3.      Oval Table: A non-traditional round table as a space for sharing projects and ideas that may not necessarily be identified as research in the traditional sense. This may include community-based work, collaborative projects, and other relevant topics/ideas. Presentation (15 minutes) and facilitation of a discussion (7-10 minutes).

4.      Disrupt and Dismantle Panel Discussions: These are NOT research presentations but rather an opportunity to discuss a controversial issue in Physical or Health Education. For this presentation type, the presenter(s) will propose the topic for discussion and invite 4-5 ‘experts’ to present varying points of view on the topic. The session will last approximately an hour.
